London Academy
Design a new school to accommodate the insufficient supply of education space for students interested in science, mathematics, engineering, and technology while incorporating an abandoned Victorian building from 1891. The school was developed within the ideology of open space learning as is currently being experimented with around Europe. Enclosed classrooms are exchanged for more open spaces that can be modified and played with to suit the daily needs of learning. These are centralized around an atrium space, which incorporates break-off spaces within to use as secondary learning spaces. This includes a hanging pod off of the primary stair for smaller groups. The project began construction in early 2010 and opened in the Spring of 2013.
This project was designed and developed as an architect employed by Allies and Morrison.
